Why we made this, who we are, and what we won't do.
We started Firmlist because every other agency directory we used was a billboard with a search bar bolted on. This one is a register of working firms — curated by humans, paid for by no-one.
Firmlist is an independent index of agencies, studios, and consultancies. Every entry is reviewed by a human before it appears. Firms pay us nothing for placement and they cannot buy higher rankings — that simply isn't a feature on offer.
We built it because directory sites have become advertising platforms. Buyers can't tell who's good from who paid the most. We want this one to be different.
Anyone running an agency can submit their firm. Submissions land in a review queue where editors check the website is real, the work is real, and the contact details are reachable. We also call client contacts at random.
Firms that pass become "verified". Firms that don't get a note explaining why and a chance to resubmit. We don't blacklist or shame anyone publicly.
We're funded by reader donations and a small newsletter. Listings are free. We don't run pop-up ads, sell visitor data, or take affiliate fees on engagements.
If that ever changes, we'll print it on this page in larger type than this paragraph.
A small team of editors with a rotating cast of regional contributors. We don't put faces on the site because the index is the work, not the people.
